(a) Managing a complex business relocation:
situation:
A medium sized engineering business was moving into a new office location, to be shared with a separate company. Office based staff also needed remote links to a new production facility thirty miles away, where heavy cutting equipment was located.
actions taken by SafetyNet IT;
- We took control of the complete office move to the new site and integrated the new staff into the existing shared office with a minimum of disruption- downtime limited to half a day.
- Liaised with the team moving the heavy machinery to the new production facility to ensure that all cabling and comms requirements were being met.
- Provided remote links from the new office base to the production site through a secure site-to-site link to enable remote access for the office based designers to the computers running the cutting machines.
(b) complex equipment relocation:
Following a business acquisition, our client needed to transfer the IT system, and highly confidential data from a business, whose location was not secure, to a secure location at head office, a hundred miles away, without any loss of performance for the local users.
actions taken by SafetyNet IT;
- We installed a high performance Terminal Server and a new enterprise grade router at Head office and configured a secure, cost effective, site to site link, using a LAN-to-LAN VPN.
- The main software system was migrated onto the Terminal Server, in liaison with the third party providers, and commissioned for production use.
- Our 12 month review revealed that despite the original software package used by staff being replaced by the company, the Server we installed continues to provide reliable, robust services to approximately 20 users at the local office.
